Minneriya National park is situated at the north central province of Sri Lanka. The park is situated 182 kilometers from Colombo. The park ,the  Minneriya tank and the surrounding areas are home to many wild animals and birds.  Minneriya’s elephant gathering attracts many around the world to this amazing event in the wilderness.  The elephant gathering is the largest gathering of elephants to the reservoir during the dry season.  Roughly around 150 – 200 elephants can be observed during this reason.  The Minneriya is also home to Sri Lankan Sambar, reptiles, great white pelicans, painted storks and many more.
